There's a child audition for every type of show you can think of. There's one for every kind of child you can think of. Add in commercials and plays and you've got a child audition for every day of the week. The question is, does your child want to go? Are they up for the task? Are they prepared for the pain of rejection, and have you taught them to not let success go to their head?
These are the serious questions you have to ask yourself before getting your child involved in acting and taking them on their first child audition. A child can be quite hurt if they are not chosen for a role, and it's up to you to instill in them the knowledge that they are a valuable human being even if they are not the toast of the child audition circuit.
It's best for you to get them some acting lessons, and learn something about acting yourself before taking them to any child audition. You want them to feel confident, and be able to have fun, and you don't want either of you to be wondering what's going on when it's show-time. A child audition can be a great chance for your child to learn and begin a career that could last their lifetime, so do your homework and don't put any pressure on them.
