If you need an audition, where do you go? How do you get from struggling, stress, eating Top Ramen, and obscurity, to fame, fortune, the limelight, and cruising PCH in a drop top Beemer? It's not easy, like anything that's worth doing, and at the next audition you go to you may end up seeing some people that probably really don't deserve it getting the really juicy roles. Don't let this discourage you!
You can be sure that at any audition, about at least forty percent of the people don't really deserve to get a part - they're lazy, egotistical, snobby, but sometimes even though they may be crappy people, they have learned how to work an audition to their advantage. They prepare, they meditate, they memorize monologues and practice characters, and therefore outshine some probably very nice and good-hearted people who just didn't have the chops.
An audition can either be your worst nightmare or your best friend. It's all in how you look at it and how you approach your craft. Pay attention at the next audition you go to. Who blends in to the crowd? Whose energy sets them apart from the rest? Who seems to have the most natural ability, and why? Try to emulate those who seem to have what it takes to succeed, and work hard to improve your skills.
